Title: Riding the Struggle Bus: The Journey of Being a Single Mom and Entrepreneur

Introduction:

Being a single mom is a challenging role in itself, but add being an entrepreneur to the mix, and the struggle bus can feel like a never-ending ride. One that’s like a rollercoaster being ran by a clown with 3 elephants hanging off while you loop de loop. Balancing the responsibilities of raising children and building a business may seem daunting, but many courageous women have embarked on this journey, defying the odds and proving that it is possible to thrive amidst the chaos. Let me share my experiences with you.

1. Embracing the Challenges:

Being a single mom and entrepreneur means facing unique challenges. From sleepless nights to financial pressures, the responsibilities can feel overwhelming. However, it is essential to embrace these challenges and see them as opportunities for growth. By adopting a positive mindset, you can turn obstacles into stepping stones to success. Using intuition in time management involves tuning into our inner guidance to make decisions about how we allocate our time and prioritize tasks. It's about recognizing the subtle cues and feelings that arise when we consider different activities or commitments. Intuition helps me discern what is truly important and aligns my actions with my values and goals. By listening to my intuition, I  can identify the tasks that will have the greatest impact and make efficient use of my time. Intuition also helps me recognize when I need to take breaks, recharge, or pivot my plans to maintain balance and avoid burnout. Ultimately, incorporating intuition into time management allows me to work smarter, be more productive, and lead a more fulfilling and harmonious life.

2. Time Management:

Time management becomes a crucial skill when you're a single mom and an entrepreneur. Juggling between school runs, extracurricular activities, and business meetings requires careful planning and prioritization. Creating a schedule, delegating tasks, and seeking support from friends, family, or hired help can help you make the most of your limited time. If you're like me and can’t afford help, many tasks fall to only you. This makes time management even more crucial and you often feel you're losing the battle. I struggle to add things to my calendar with my ADHD. I tell people my brain is like a 1999 desktop computer with dial up Internet being ran by an 80 year old woman who doesn’t understand technology.

3. Building a Support Network:

One of the most significant assets for a single mom entrepreneur is a strong support network. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who understand the challenges you face can provide emotional support, guidance, and inspiration. Connect with other single moms, join networking groups, or seek mentorship to build a tribe that uplifts and encourages you. This is especially important to me. I knew I needed a team of strong women and I have started to build that. My manager Rosa is a god send and without her my life would fall apart. Thank you team especially Rosa who doesn’t put up with my bullshit and also loves me.

4. Self-Care is Non-Negotiable:

Amidst the hustle and bustle of entrepreneurship and motherhood, it's crucial not to neglect self-care. Taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being is essential to maintain your resilience and avoid burnout. Make time for exercise, hobbies, relaxation, and self-reflection. Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup. I wish I was better about this but I am not.

5. Overcoming Guilt:

Single moms often experience guilt, feeling torn between their children and their business. It's important to remember that pursuing your entrepreneurial dreams doesn't make you any less of a loving and caring mother. Communicate openly with your children, involve them in your journey, and find ways to balance quality time with work commitments. There are so many times I feel guilty and wish I could spend more time with my kids. I know the only regrets I will have are the memories I am missing stressing about not being able to support them.

6. Celebrating Milestones:

As a single mom entrepreneur, it's crucial to celebrate the small victories along the way. Whether it's signing a new client, achieving a personal goal, or witnessing your child's achievements, take time to acknowledge and appreciate your accomplishments. Celebrating milestones helps you stay motivated and reminds you of the progress you've made.

Conclusion:

Being a single mom and entrepreneur is undoubtedly a challenging journey, but it is also a testament to your strength, resilience, and determination. While the struggle bus may make frequent stops, with the right mindset, support network, and self-care practices, you can navigate this path successfully. Remember, you are not alone, and your story as a single mom entrepreneur is an inspiration to others who may be facing similar struggles. Embrace the ride, embrace the challenges, and celebrate your victories along the way.
